Warrington: The King’s New Year’s Honours list is out, and it’s shining a light on some amazing community champions from across the UK.

This list is put together based on suggestions from the prime minister, government ministers, and even the public. It’s not just about the famous names; many of the honorees are everyday heroes doing great things.

Among those recognized is Ruth Agnew, who works as the chief governance and central support officer at Co-op Multi Academy Trust. This trust has schools in places like Greater Manchester and Merseyside. Ruth, a Warrington resident, is getting an MBE for her dedication to education.

Another honoree is Lee Rawlinson, who used to be the director of the Environment Agency in Latchford. Living in Widnes, he’s being recognized for his work in environmental services and will also receive an MBE.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer highlighted how ordinary folks do extraordinary things for their communities every day. He emphasized that these unsung heroes truly represent the best of the UK.

Ruth and Lee will be in great company, as they’ll be honored alongside Team GB star Keely Hodgkinson and mountain biker Tom Pidcock. Even actor Stephen Fry is set to be knighted for his contributions to mental health awareness and charity work.
