Starting in 2025, Virginia’s vehicle inspection stickers will feature new colors and designs to enhance security and prevent counterfeiting.
The biggest news? The stickers are going green! Yep, that’s right. Blue has been the go-to color since 2019, but now it’s time for a change. This is only the second time the color has switched since inspections started back in 1932. Before blue, they were yellow for decades.
The reason for this makeover is to make it tougher for people to fake these stickers. The interim superintendent of VSP, Lt. Col. Matthew Hanley, wants everyone to feel confident that when they see a sticker, it means the car has been properly inspected and is safe to drive.
And it’s not just the color that’s changing. The design will also get a refresh. The expiration month will be shown over a white background, and the expiration date will sit on top of a dogwood image. But don’t worry, the size and placement of the sticker on your windshield will stay the same.
Oh, and just a heads up: trying to counterfeit these stickers is a serious offense in Virginia. It can land you in jail for up to a year and hit you with a hefty fine. So, keep it legit!
