Trump’s recent executive orders focus on immigration, economy, and climate, reshaping policies from the previous administration.
Washington: So, Trump kicked off his presidency with a bang, signing a bunch of executive orders right on Day 1. He wasted no time repealing many of Biden’s actions and even pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accords again. Plus, he pardoned a ton of folks involved in the January 6 Capitol incident.
One of the big moves was pardoning around 1,500 people connected to the Capitol attack. He also promised to end federal cases against his supporters, claiming he wants to stop the “weaponization” of law enforcement against them.
On the economic front, Trump made a splash at a rally, signing a memo aimed at tackling consumer inflation. He’s looking to ease regulations on oil and gas production, hoping that’ll lower prices for everyone. He’s even talking about imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico soon.
In a nod to his “America First” agenda, Trump plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and revert Denali back to Mount McKinley. He also signed an order to keep flags at full height during future Inauguration Days.
When it comes to immigration, he reversed Biden’s policies, making it clear that anyone here illegally is a target for deportation again. He declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and is sending troops to help with immigration enforcement.
Trump also signed off on withdrawing from the Paris climate agreements, a move he made before. He’s pushing for more drilling and plans to scrap Biden’s electric vehicle mandate.
He’s also freezing federal hires and regulations while he sets up his new administration. There’s talk of making it easier to fire federal workers, too, by changing their job classifications.
On social issues, Trump is rolling back protections for transgender individuals and ending diversity programs in the federal government. He’s set to define gender strictly as male or female based on biological traits, which is a significant shift in policy.
