UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer signs a historic 100-year partnership with Ukraine to enhance security and collaboration.
He stated, “Our 100 Year Partnership is a promise that we are with you, not just today or tomorrow, but for a hundred years.” The deal focuses on military collaboration, especially in maritime security across key seas to deter Russian threats.
Additionally, it aims to enhance scientific and technological cooperation in areas like space and drones. After meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Starmer announced the UK would send 150 artillery barrels and a mobile air defense system to Ukraine.
The UK has been a strong ally of Ukraine, committing around £12.8 billion in support since the start of the conflict in February 2022. Starmer’s visit comes as Ukraine prepares for the return of Donald Trump to the White House, who has expressed skepticism about US aid to Kyiv. Both Moscow and Kyiv are positioning themselves strategically ahead of this political shift.
