Trump’s Cabinet Picks Scheduled for Senate Hearings This Week

Chapin: So, it looks like the Senate hearings for Trump’s Cabinet picks are kicking off this week. After all the buzz about who he’s chosen, it’s finally time for them to face the music.

First up on Tuesday, Doug Collins will be in front of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He’s a former congressman and a Navy chaplain, so he’s got some serious credentials for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Then, Pete Hegseth, a former Army National Guard vet and Fox host, will be questioned about his role at the Department of Defense. There’s been some chatter about his past, so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes.

Doug Burgum, the ex-governor of North Dakota, is also on the list for the Interior Department. He’s got a big job ahead, managing public lands and pushing for U.S. energy dominance.

On Wednesday, Kristi Noem, the South Dakota governor, will be up for the Homeland Security Department. She’s got a lot on her plate, especially with Trump’s plans for border security.

Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general, is also making her rounds. She’s been in Trump’s circle for a while, so her confirmation will be closely watched.

Sean Duffy, a former congressman, will be discussing transportation issues, while John Ratcliffe is set to lead the CIA. Marco Rubio is also in the mix for Secretary of State, which is a huge role in foreign relations.

Thursday brings more nominees, including Scott Turner for Housing and Urban Development and Lee Zeldin for the EPA. It’s a packed schedule, and not all nominees have been scheduled yet, so stay tuned for updates!
