The Gulf of Mexico will become the Gulf of America, and Mount Denali will revert to its original name, Mount McKinley. This name change is a nod to American greatness, according to his team.
Trump believes these changes will bring back a sense of pride. He’s quoted saying that McKinley was a great president and deserves recognition for his contributions.
Back in 2015, former President Obama changed the name to Denali to honor the indigenous Koyukon Athabaskans. But Trump wants to restore the name McKinley, which has historical significance.
He also mentioned that the Gulf of America has a nice ring to it and fits well with his vision for the country. The Gulf is crucial for energy production and commerce, and he wants to boost its importance.
Trump is expected to sign these orders soon after his swearing-in, possibly at the Capitol or the White House. He has a busy first day planned, with nearly 200 executive actions on the agenda.
