Washington: So, President-elect Donald Trump just announced that his inauguration is moving indoors to the U.S. Capitol. He made this call because the weather is looking pretty brutal, with some serious cold temperatures expected.

The inauguration was supposed to kick off around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, but it’s not clear yet if that timing will change for the indoor event. Trump shared on social media that the windchill could make it feel even colder, and he’s worried about everyone’s safety.

He mentioned that there’s an Arctic blast hitting the country and he doesn’t want anyone getting hurt. He’s especially concerned for the law enforcement and first responders who will be outside for hours. He even advised folks to dress warmly if they decide to come out.

The ceremony will now take place in the Capitol rotunda, where Trump will give his speeches and take the oath of office. He’s optimistic that it’ll be a beautiful experience for everyone, especially for those watching on TV.

A spokesperson for the committee in charge of the inauguration confirmed they’ll honor Trump’s request to move the event inside. Interestingly, the only other president to have an inauguration in the rotunda was Ronald Reagan.

Trump also mentioned that supporters in D.C. can catch a live viewing at the Capital One Arena, which is downtown. Plus, there’s a Trump rally planned for Sunday there.

He said they’ll open the arena for live viewing of the inauguration and to host the presidential parade afterward. The arena can hold about 20,000 people, which is way less than what could fit on the National Mall.
