Trump reportedly supports Vivek Ramaswamy to fill JD Vance’s Senate seat in Ohio, as the governor prepares to make an appointment.

Now, Ohio’s Governor Mike DeWine is on the hunt for a replacement until a special election in 2026. Apparently, Ramaswamy, who’s also running for president in 2024, is keen on the Senate seat, and Trump is backing him up.
The Washington Post was the first to break this news. Ramaswamy had shown interest in the seat before but pulled back when he got appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. DeWine mentioned he’d announce his choice soon but kept his top picks under wraps.
He’s looking for someone who really knows Ohio and has solid experience. Interestingly, the buzz is that Lt. Gov. Jon Husted is the frontrunner, not Ramaswamy.
Ramaswamy, who grew up near Cincinnati, has made a name for himself in Silicon Valley. After dropping out of the 2024 race, he quickly threw his support behind Trump. He was chosen to help lead the DOGE, which aims to trim a whopping $2 trillion from the federal budget.
He had previously said he was open to the Senate seat but later announced he was stepping back from consideration. He even tweeted about it, saying whoever gets the appointment has big shoes to fill.
Recently, he stirred up some controversy on social media regarding immigration, which sparked a heated debate among Republicans. Since then, he’s been pretty quiet online, leaving folks wondering what he’s up to.
