Miramar: A 20-year-old named Andre Clements is heading to court soon. He’s accused of a brutal crime from October 2021. Clements allegedly set up a romantic rival, Dwight “D.J.” Grant, and killed him with a sword.

Clements was upset because Grant had been with his ex-girlfriend. He lured Grant to his apartment complex, where things took a deadly turn. Grant thought he was meeting someone special, but instead, he faced Clements and a violent ambush.

Two women involved in the setup are already serving 25 years in prison after pleading guilty. One of them, Jaslyn Smith, is expected to testify against Clements. She described him as the mastermind behind the attack.

Defense lawyers are raising concerns about how the prosecution handled witness lists. They claim Smith wasn’t officially listed as a witness until just a couple of weeks ago, which they argue is unfair.

Smith reportedly held Grant down while Clements attacked him. The judge will decide if her testimony can be included in the trial. The hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
