Topeka: On September 1, 2024, Ocelopanhuetzi Texotic-Martinez, a 43-year-old man, died from injuries that were later ruled a homicide by police. This announcement came in December, according to a police spokeswoman.

The autopsy confirmed he was indeed a homicide victim, but the specific cause of death hasn’t been shared yet. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing.

With Texotic-Martinez’s death, the total number of homicides in Topeka for 2024 has now reached 22.

Earlier, on August 13, police were called to a hospital after Texotic-Martinez was brought in with life-threatening injuries. He had been taken from the 1200 block of N.W. Central Avenue. Sadly, he passed away weeks later.
