Nashville: This past weekend, Middle Tennessee got hit hard by its first winter storm of 2025. Some areas saw between three to six inches of snow, which really messed up travel plans. In fact, over half of Nashville’s flights were canceled on Friday.

The National Weather Service reported snow totals ranging from 5.9 inches in Dickson to 3 inches in Springfield. As the storm worsened, they upgraded the winter storm watch to a warning, warning folks about severe travel impacts.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was super busy during this storm. They worked around the clock to keep everyone safe. They posted on Facebook about how troopers faced tough conditions to help drivers, clear roads, and respond to emergencies.

They dealt with 648 crashes, with 127 resulting in injuries and sadly, three fatal accidents. Dispatchers received a whopping 1,708 calls statewide. To keep up with the demand, they even had cots set up for dispatchers to ensure they could provide help non-stop.

Throughout the storm, troopers also helped 874 motorists who got stuck in the snow. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security mentioned that THP responds to over 500,000 calls for service each year. They remind everyone to be careful when driving in snowy conditions.
