Cheatham County: A terrible accident happened early Friday morning. A man and a teenage girl lost their lives in a head-on crash, and two other teens were hurt.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 38-year-old man named Joshua Tregoning was driving a Kia Optima the wrong way on I-24. He was heading east in the westbound lanes near mile marker 29.

At the same time, a 17-year-old girl was driving a Hyundai Elantra westbound on the same highway. She had two friends with her: 18-year-old Jaylen Mitchell and a 16-year-old boy.

Tregoning kept going the wrong way until he collided head-on with the Hyundai Elantra at around 2:13 a.m. This happened just before a winter storm hit the area, bringing several inches of snow.

Sadly, both the 17-year-old driver and Tregoning died from their injuries. The two male passengers in the Elantra were hurt, but we don’t know how badly.

Interestingly, the 17-year-old girl was the only one wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As of now, no charges have been filed, and there’s no more information available.
