A 17-year-old faces charges after bringing an airsoft gun to a Manchester school, reportedly intending to provoke police action.
The police got a call about someone armed near the playground around 1:18 p.m. on Monday. Officers arrived to find a guy dressed in all black, carrying a duffel bag and what looked like a rifle. Witnesses said he was pointing the gun at the school and the kids inside.
When the police found him, he still had the airsoft gun. They told him to drop it and get on the ground, and after a few tries, he finally did. They took him into custody without any further issues.
The teen, who hasn’t been named because he’s a minor, admitted to the police that he wanted to commit “suicide by cop.” It turns out he pointed the airsoft gun at 29 kids and 10 adults while he was on school grounds.
He’s facing a bunch of serious charges, including first-degree threatening and reckless endangerment. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the police praised the school staff for their quick thinking during this scary situation. The investigation is still ongoing, and they’re asking anyone with more info to reach out to the Manchester Police Department.
