Henyard’s lawsuit aims to make them attend Township Board meetings, which is crucial for getting things done. Her attorney, Max Solomon, is also involved in another case regarding Henyard’s failed nomination for supervisor.
Gonzalez and Carlisle have been skipping meetings since October, claiming they lack information on Henyard’s proposals. Their absences have made it impossible to hold meetings, especially after Trustee Gerald Jones resigned.
The lawsuit argues that without a quorum, the township can’t conduct important business, which has led to reduced services due to insurance issues. Henyard emphasizes that these meetings are essential for managing staff and providing services to residents.
Gonzalez dismissed the lawsuit as a “temper tantrum” and believes it will be thrown out. He claims the lawsuit overlooks his participation in some meetings, even if they weren’t officially called to order.
As the board meeting approached, Gonzalez remained tight-lipped about attending, insisting the lawsuit wouldn’t sway his decision. He views Henyard’s actions as desperate attempts to regain control.
Meanwhile, a public hearing is set for January 21 to fill the vacant trustee position. Residents can nominate candidates, and Gonzalez believes voters will choose someone critical of Henyard, who has faced backlash for her leadership style.
Regardless of the outcome, Gonzalez is confident that the standoff will end once a new trustee is elected, reflecting the community’s stance on the ongoing conflict.
