Houston: The Texans really turned things around since their last game at NRG Stadium. Remember when the Ravens ran all over them? Well, that was a different story on Saturday.
In the AFC wild-card round, the Chargers’ Justin Herbert and his crew struggled big time. The Texans’ defense was all over them, making it tough to get anything going.
Thanks to that solid defense and C.J. Stroud playing like a champ, the Texans cruised to a 32-12 win, marking their second straight trip to the divisional round.
Herbert had a rough night, getting sacked by Will Anderson Jr. and throwing four interceptions. Ouch! He usually doesn’t throw that many in a season.
One of those picks was a big one, returned for a touchdown by Eric Murray, which really put the game out of reach for the Chargers.
Even special teams got in on the action when D’Angelo Ross blocked an extra point and returned it for two points. Talk about a team effort!
But the highlight was definitely the Texans forcing a turnover on downs early in the third quarter. That was a game-changer when it was still close.
Los Angeles came in averaging over 300 yards of offense, but the Texans held them to just 261 total yards. They really stepped up their game!
With the Chargers only scoring 12 points, which is way below their average, it was clear the Texans’ defense was on fire. They sacked Herbert four times and shut down the run game.
On the Chargers’ only trip to the red zone, they only managed a field goal. The Texans were ready for them!
