Despite playoff struggles, Mike Tomlin is likely to remain head coach of the Steelers as changes loom for the coaching staff

But according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it seems the Steelers aren’t planning to part ways with him. Tomlin has a no-trade clause, so he’d have to agree to any move. His record stands at 183-107-2, and he led the team to a Super Bowl win in 2008.
Sure, his postseason record isn’t great at 8-11, and this latest loss marks the sixth straight playoff defeat under his leadership. The defense really struggled against the Ravens, allowing a whopping 299 rushing yards. It was a tough night for the Steelers, and even legends like Terry Bradshaw were critical of the team’s performance.
There are whispers of changes coming to the coaching staff, especially for defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Former Jets coach Robert Saleh might be in the mix for interviews. If Austin is let go, Saleh could be a candidate for the job.
Tomlin has managed to get the most out of some not-so-great rosters in recent years. This season, many thought the Steelers would struggle, but he led them to a 10-7 record and a playoff spot. Unfortunately, they were quickly eliminated.
Next season, the Steelers will need to make some moves, especially at quarterback. With the upcoming free-agent class, they might have a shot at someone like Sam Darnold, who had a standout season with the Vikings.
If they can snag a top quarterback, they might also want to consider adding a big-name receiver. Davante Adams could be a possibility if Aaron Rodgers ends up with the Steelers.
Tomlin often says, “The standard is the standard.” If the Steelers want to get back to competing for championships, they’ll need to shake things up, but letting go of Tomlin shouldn’t be part of that plan.
