WINFIELD: So, here’s the scoop. A guy at the Econo Lodge got into a bit of trouble. He tried to hit a hotel worker and even pushed them down. This all kicked off a standoff that lasted for hours.

It started around 12:30 p.m. when the police got a call about the disturbance. When they arrived, hotel staff told them the man had come out of his room, yelled at them, and then went back inside.

Things escalated when officers saw him waving a hunting knife around in his room. They tried to talk him out, but he wasn’t having it. Eventually, they got a warrant and called in the SWAT team for backup.

Just before 6 p.m., they made their move and arrested the guy. He had a minor injury and was taken to the hospital first, then off to jail. Turns out, he’s a 48-year-old from Pine Mountain, Georgia.

He’s facing charges for battery and possession of stolen property, but there might be more coming as the investigation continues. The local sheriff’s office and fire department helped out during the whole situation.
