Metro SmarTrip cards with Trump’s image can be found at 15 stations in the DMV area

As of Thursday night, the Metro SmarTrip cards with Trump’s image were ready for you at vending machines. The Washington Metro Transit Authority has put up special signs to help you find them.
You can get these cards at stations like Ashburn, Glenmont, and Union Station, among others. Just a heads up, the Metro Center had some, but they sold out pretty quickly.
The card is red, which is a nod to the Republican Party, and it shows Trump over the National Mall. It also has the number 47 since he’s set to be the 47th president on January 20.
This isn’t the first time Metro has done this. They’ve made special cards for past inaugurations, including Trump’s first one in 2017 and Obama’s two. They skipped Biden’s inauguration in 2021 due to COVID-19.
Some of these cards have turned into collector’s items. For instance, SmarTrip cards from Obama’s first inauguration were going for as much as $1,000 on eBay recently.
The tradition started back in 1993 with Bill Clinton’s inauguration, although they didn’t do it for George W. Bush.
Trump’s swearing-in is set for noon on Monday, and WMATA is making some changes to fares and schedules for the big day.
