A Southwest Airlines pilot was arrested for DUI at a Georgia airport, causing a flight delay.
The airline confirmed that they were aware of the situation involving Flight 3772, which was supposed to head to Chicago. They said the pilot was removed from duty right away. Safety is a big deal for Southwest, and they made that clear in their statement.
Because of this incident, the flight ended up being delayed for about five hours. Passengers were understandably frustrated, but the airline did their best to accommodate everyone on other flights.
Now, according to FAA rules, pilots can’t drink while on duty or fly if they’ve had alcohol within eight hours or if their blood alcohol level is 0.04% or higher. The Chatham County sheriff’s office reported that the pilot, David Allsop, 52, was arrested and is facing DUI charges. He’s currently being held on a $3,500 bond.
As of now, it’s unclear if he has a lawyer, and his family hasn’t commented yet. What a wild situation!
