An inquest reveals that baby Sophia Kelemen died after her pram was struck by a car in Tenby, Wales, on January 2
Leigh: A heartbreaking incident occurred when six-month-old Sophia Kelemen was hit by a car while in her pram at a car park in Tenby, Wales, on January 2. Sadly, she passed away the next day in the hospital.
The inquest opened at Pembrokeshire Coroner’s Court revealed that the collision happened around 4:04 PM. Police were alerted after reports of the accident involving a child’s pram and a vehicle.
Sophia was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for emergency treatment but tragically succumbed to her injuries. The cause of death was determined to be a head injury from the collision.
Gareth Lewis, the assistant coroner, expressed condolences to Sophia’s family and announced that the inquest would be adjourned for further investigations.
Flaviu Naghi, 33, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other offenses. He’s set to appear in court on February 7.
Sophia’s father, Alex, shared the family’s devastation, describing the moment as a horror movie. He reflected on how much they loved their little girl and the pain of seeing her in the hospital.
Her aunt Adriana remembered Sophia as a joyful and energetic baby who was always smiling. The family is now planning to lay her to rest in Romania, where they are from, and has set up GoFundMe pages to help with funeral costs.
