Wichita: The Kansas Department of Education just announced that six amazing teachers from the state have snagged the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

These awards are a big deal! A panel of top-notch scientists, mathematicians, and educators picks the winners after a state-level selection process.

This award has been around since 1983, and it’s the highest honor from the U.S. government for teachers in these fields.

– Erica Huggard from Emporia High School for 7-12 Science in 2021
– Elizabeth Self from Kepley Middle School for 7-12 Mathematics in 2021
– Todd Flory from Wheatland Elementary for K-6 Science in 2022
– Angela Gray from Atchison Elementary for K-6 Mathematics in 2022
– Robin Anderson from Andover Middle School for 7-12 Mathematics in 2023
– Jennifer Hendrix from Dodge City High School for 7-12 Science in 2023
