Wichita: A group of congressmen, including a representative from Kansas, is calling for the U.S. Postal Service to take responsibility when bills arrive late. They’ve been hearing from folks all over the country who are frustrated with late or missing mail, which often leads to late fees.

Kansas U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann expressed that many Kansans depend on USPS for timely mail delivery. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case lately, with numerous complaints about mail not arriving on time or not arriving at all.

To tackle this issue, Mann and six other lawmakers introduced the Pony Up Act. This proposed legislation would require USPS to pay any late fees that people incur because of delayed mail. Mann emphasized that this bill would hold USPS accountable and ease the burden on hardworking Kansans.

If the Pony Up Act becomes law, anyone who faces a late fee due to delayed mail could easily file a claim online or at their local post office to get reimbursed. The bill also aims to ensure Congress gets accurate reports on delayed mail, helping them assess USPS’s performance.

KSN News has reached out to USPS for their take on the Pony Up Act, but they haven’t responded yet.
