New York: Sheinelle Jones, who co-hosts the third hour of “Today,” announced on Wednesday that she’s taking a break from the show. She’s dealing with a family health matter, and it sounds pretty serious.

While she hasn’t shared the specifics, a source told People that it’s not about her or her three kids. She has a 14-year-old son, Kayin, and 12-year-old twins, Clara and Uche.

Sheinelle expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received from fans and her “Today” family during this tough time. She’s been part of the “Today” team since 2014, working alongside Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer.

In her Instagram post, she thanked everyone for their concern and mentioned that she’s taking time off for this family health issue. She feels lucky to have such a supportive team and fans.

Her co-hosts have been really sweet, with Savannah Guthrie saying they miss her and can’t wait to have her back. Craig Melvin and Jenna Bush Hager also shared their love and support in the comments.

Sheinelle has been absent since December 18 and didn’t make it to Hoda Kotb’s last show, which left some fans worried. They were curious about her absence and hoped she was okay.

Despite her break, she’s still set to release her book “Through Mom’s Eyes,” which is inspired by her segment where she interviews celebrity moms. She mentioned that writing the book helped her learn more about her own mother, and she hopes it inspires others too.
