Wichita: Zookeepers at Sedgwick County Zoo are buzzing with excitement. They recently shared a video of a baby elephant kicking its mom, Talia. It’s such a cute moment!

The zoo posted on Facebook, saying, “We just witnessed something truly incredible – Talia’s little one moving!” It’s a rare peek into the long elephant pregnancy, which lasts almost two years.

There are five pregnant elephants at the zoo, and they’re all due between early spring and fall. Simunye is up first, and she’s the only one who has given birth before. The others, Talia, Xolani, Arusi, and Zuberi, are all first-time moms.

The zoo has been keeping everyone updated with “Elephant Bumpdates” on social media. They mentioned that the expectant moms get regular ultrasounds to ensure everything is going smoothly.

As they wait for the new arrivals, the zoo is feeling optimistic. They also kicked off a campaign to raise $10 million to expand the elephant area, giving the herd more space to bond and play, especially during the chilly winter months.
