Scott Schwab, Kansas Secretary of State, is running for governor in 2026
Topeka: So, Scott Schwab, the Kansas Secretary of State, just announced he’s running for governor in 2026. He made the big reveal in a video on his website.
He’s been in office for a while now, having been elected in 2018 and again in 2022. Before that, he was in the Kansas House starting in 2002. He’s got some serious experience under his belt.
Schwab is all about making elections secure and helping businesses run smoother. He’s been a strong advocate for the integrity of Kansas elections and has defended the use of ballot boxes. He believes that claims about noncitizen voting are pretty exaggerated.
In his announcement, he mentioned that Kansas really needs to tackle property taxes and stop China from buying up farmland near military bases. He’s calling for a return to the values that have always guided the state.
On a personal note, Schwab faced a tragic loss when his son Caleb died in a water slide accident a few years back. It was a tough time for him and his family, but he’s pushing forward with his political career.
It’ll be interesting to see how his campaign unfolds as he aims for the governor’s seat.
