Scituate: The Scituate Police Department is heartbroken over the recent passing of Sgt. Jason Riquier. He dedicated 23 years to the department and was also a proud Marine. Police Chief Eric Rollinson shared the sad news on Tuesday, noting that Riquier’s death was reported on Monday.

Rollinson expressed how much the department is struggling with this loss, calling Riquier a valued and respected member of their police family. The community and law enforcement partners have been incredibly supportive during this tough time, which Rollinson greatly appreciates.

Riquier, who was 47 and originally from Woonsocket, had a notable career. Just last March, he played a key role in stopping a scam that targeted an elderly resident, saving her from losing a significant amount of money.

As the department mourns, Rollinson has asked for privacy for Riquier’s family. It’s a hard time for everyone involved, and the outpouring of support from other police departments shows just how much he was respected.
