Starting Tuesday, victims of November’s bomb cyclone can apply for disaster loans in Monroe, Snohomish County.

They’re here to help anyone who lost out, even if it was after the storm passed. Some workers flew in from places like Sacramento and St. Louis just to assist people affected by the cyclone that hit right before Thanksgiving.
Cynthia Cowley, the SBA Public Information Officer, mentioned that while they do check for creditworthiness, they’re not as strict as some might think. The loans come with good terms, like low interest rates and a year before you need to start paying them back.
Cowley also pointed out that anyone in counties bordering King County can apply. There’s even a story about an arborist from Bothell who nearly lost his life while cleaning up after the storm. He’s now out of work and facing hefty medical bills, but he might qualify for an economic injury disaster loan.
Her advice? If you think you were impacted, just apply. The worst they can say is no. So far, only a couple of people showed up for help, but the SBA will be around until 6 or 7 PM, depending on the day.
