London: SAS Rogue Heroes is back for a second season on BBC One, and it’s taking us to mainland Europe. Set in spring 1943, Paddy Mayne, played by Jack O’Connell, steps up to lead the SAS after David Stirling gets captured.

The regiment has to pivot its focus to new global challenges, but there’s some doubt from GHQ about their future. Things get even trickier with the formation of a new unit and some unexpected arrivals.

Alongside Paddy and David, we’ll see familiar faces like Dominic West as Lieutenant Colonel Dudley Wrangel Clarke and Theo Barklem-Biggs as Reg Seekings returning to the mix.

And guess what? Corin Silva, Jacob Ifan, Jacob McCarthy, Stuart Campbell, Bobby Schofield, and Sofia Boutella are all back too, reprising their roles.

Now, let’s talk about the new cast members joining the fun. Bill Stirling, David’s brother, is played by Gwilym Lee, who you might remember from Midsomer Murders or as Brian May in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Gwilym shared how welcoming the cast was, saying it felt special to be part of such a great team. He’s excited about telling the story of these brave individuals and feels the weight of that responsibility.

Con O’Neill takes on the role of British Commander General Montgomery. He’s known for his theatre work and has appeared in shows like Chernobyl and The Batman.

Mark Rowley joins as Jock McDiarmid, a new recruit who’s not afraid to challenge Paddy. You might recognize him from River City or The Last Kingdom.

Jack Barton plays John Tonkin, another new recruit, and he’s known for his role in Heartstopper. There are also some other fresh faces like Paolo De Vita and Anna Manuelli, but their roles are still under wraps.

Creator Steven Knight mentioned that the team is now in Italy, facing a whole new set of challenges. With new characters joining the regiment, there’s bound to be some sparks and friction.

He also highlighted Bill Stirling’s character, who feels the pressure of living up to his brother David’s legacy. It’s a compelling dynamic that adds depth to the story.

Fans can catch all the action of SAS Rogue Heroes on BBC iPlayer, so don’t miss out!
