Sam Moore, the legendary singer of ‘Soul Man,’ has died at 89 in Florida after surgery complications

Moore was part of the famous duo Sam & Dave, known for their soulful sound and energetic performances. They made a huge impact in the 1960s with hits like “Hold On, I’m Comin’.”
His publicist shared the news, and fans are heartbroken. Bruce Springsteen even posted about how much he admired Moore’s talent and authenticity.
Moore and his partner Dave Prater were big stars at Stax Records, right up there with legends like Otis Redding. They brought gospel vibes to the stage and created timeless songs.
Even after the 60s, their music lived on. “Soul Man” got a new life in the late 70s thanks to the Blues Brothers. Moore had mixed feelings about that, though, since many thought it was their song first.
He faced some tough times, including a lawsuit over a movie that resembled his life and a long battle with addiction. But he kept performing and even worked with Springsteen, who he called a close friend.
Moore was born in Miami and started singing in church. He and Prater met in 1961 and quickly became a hit duo. They had their ups and downs, but their music always shone through.
He married Joyce in 1982, who helped him through his struggles. Moore continued to perform, even singing for presidents. He leaves behind his wife, daughter, and grandkids, and his legacy will live on through his incredible music.
