Lane County: The County Commissioners have made a big decision. They unanimously chose Rob Bovett, who was the Senior Assistant County Counsel in Washington County, to be the new Lane County Counsel.

So, what does a County Counsel do? Well, it’s kind of like a City Attorney. Bovett will lead the office that gives legal advice to the county commissioners and staff. He’ll also handle civil litigation, manage legal risks, and deal with public records requests.

Bovett isn’t new to this kind of work. He has a solid background in county legal roles all over Oregon. His resume shows he’s been a Senior Assistant County Counsel, Legal Counsel for the Association of Oregon Counties, and even a District Attorney in Lincoln County.

He’s also been active in state legislation. Recently, he helped craft some important bills, including those related to drug reform and cannabis licensing.

County Commissioner Laurie Trieger expressed excitement about bringing Bovett on board, saying it’s a very welcome addition to the team.
