Riyadh Air’s launch is delayed due to Boeing’s delivery issues, impacting Saudi Arabia’s tourism goals

Originally, they were supposed to kick things off in early 2025, but now it’s pushed back to the third quarter. They were counting on getting eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners this year, but it looks like only four will arrive.
CEO Tony Douglas mentioned they’re trying to adapt to the situation, but it’s not without its risks. Boeing is working closely with them to sort out the delivery schedule, but it’s been a tough time for the planemaker too.
Last year, Boeing delivered the fewest aircraft since the pandemic, and they’ve had their share of issues, including a strike and production slowdowns. Riyadh Air is hoping to serve over 100 destinations in five years, and they’ve even partnered with Atlético Madrid.
They’re also looking into using AI for smoother passenger experiences. It’s a lot of ambition, but these delays are definitely a setback for their plans.
