Rex Ryan Claps Back at Texans Star Joe Mixon’s Bye Week Comments

Houston: So, Rex Ryan had a bit of a moment after the Texans took down the Chargers in the playoffs. He had said the Chargers were on a “bye week” facing the Texans, but boy, did that backfire! The Texans crushed them 32-12.

After the game, Joe Mixon and the team were celebrating, puffing on cigars in the locker room. They even shared some fun videos on social media, poking fun at Ryan. On ESPN’s “NFL Countdown,” Ryan couldn’t resist getting in on the action. He joked about his own bad day compared to Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw four interceptions.

Ryan gave the Texans their due, saying they played their hearts out. He even admitted he might have picked them to win the Super Bowl if he had known they’d play like that. Mixon, with a cigar in hand, had the perfect comeback, saying he was “smokin’ on that Rex Ryan bye-week pack.”

As for the Texans, they’re gearing up for their next playoff game against either the Chiefs or Ravens. Ryan, who’s eyeing a return to coaching, joked he wouldn’t pick the Texans next week, but who knows? He might change his mind. The Jets won’t face the Texans until 2027, so he has some time before he has to deal with them again.
