Washington, D.C.: Things got pretty intense at a House hearing when Rep. Nancy Mace and Rep. Jasmine Crockett started going at it. Mace even asked Crockett if she wanted to “take it outside.”

The whole thing kicked off during a discussion about civil rights and transgender rights. Crockett was pushing to bring back a subcommittee on civil rights and took a jab at Mace’s comments about transgender folks.

Crockett said, “I can see that somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now,” implying Mace was using fear tactics to get attention. Mace didn’t like that and jumped in, saying, “I am no child, do not call me a child.”

Then Mace threw down the challenge, saying, “If you want to take it outside, we can do that.” Rep. Maxwell Frost tried to step in, saying Mace was inciting violence. But the committee chair, James Comer, said Mace’s comment wasn’t a call to violence; he suggested she might just want to chat over coffee or a beer.

After the hearing, both reps took to X to share their sides. Mace admitted she went a bit overboard but insisted she didn’t mean to fight. She clarified that she wanted a more constructive conversation.

Crockett, on the other hand, felt threatened and called Mace “an attention-seeking loser,” pointing out that such threats don’t help with real issues like rising egg prices.

Mace has been in the spotlight lately for her stance on transgender issues, especially after the election of the first openly transgender member of Congress. She even introduced a measure to ban transgender women from women’s bathrooms on Capitol Hill, which she later said was aimed at Rep. Sarah McBride.

This isn’t the first time the House Oversight Committee has seen drama. Last year, a meeting turned chaotic with personal insults flying around. It seems like this committee has a knack for heated exchanges!
