Tensions flared during a House meeting as Rep. Mace confronted Rep. Crockett over heated remarks
Washington, D.C.: Things got pretty heated during a House Oversight Committee meeting. Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina and Rep. Jasmine Crockett from Texas had a major clash. It all started when Crockett called Mace a “child.”
Mace didn’t take that lightly. She fired back, saying, “I am no child! Do not call me a child!” It was clear she was upset. The meeting was supposed to be about introducing new members and setting rules, but it quickly turned chaotic.
Crockett accused Mace of trying to raise campaign funds by banning transgender women from using female facilities. She said, “Somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now.” Mace, who’s 47, insisted she’s a grown woman and not a child.
As the argument heated up, Mace suggested they could take their discussion outside. “If you want to take it outside, we can do that,” she shouted. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost tried to get that remark struck from the record, but the committee chair said it wasn’t a real challenge to fight.
After the meeting, Crockett took to social media, saying she felt threatened by Mace. Mace, on the other hand, tweeted that she wouldn’t be belittled and would stand her ground. This isn’t the first time Crockett has been involved in a heated exchange in Congress, either.
