Las Vegas: Harry Reid International Airport is making waves! It’s now one of the top 10 busiest airports in the U.S. and ranks 19th globally, according to Airports Council International.

In 2023, it snagged the No. 8 spot in the U.S. for passenger volume, just behind Orlando International Airport. A new ranking update is expected later this year.

Interestingly, Reid is also fifth in the world for aircraft movements, which means a lot of planes are taking off and landing there. However, it didn’t make the top 20 for cargo handled.

ACI reported that Reid saw about 57.67 million passengers in 2023, just shy of Orlando’s 57.74 million. It’s clear that airports worldwide are bouncing back after the pandemic.

Atlanta’s Hartfield-Jackson International Airport is still the busiest globally, with a whopping 104.7 million passengers. It’s a major hub for Delta Air Lines.

Reid has a strong presence from airlines like Southwest, Spirit, and Allegiant, and its passenger numbers jumped by 9.4% from 2022 and 11.6% compared to pre-pandemic 2019.

The top 10 airports worldwide include places like Dubai, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Heathrow, with Reid making its mark in the second tier of rankings.

Reid also saw a significant rise in aircraft movements, maintaining its fifth-place ranking with over 611,000 movements in 2023. That’s a 5.6% increase from last year and a 10.6% rise from 2019.
