Rapper Migo Lee, a key figure in the Kennedy Street Crew, faces 14 years in prison for drug trafficking and violence in D.C.

Washington: A rapper known as Migo Lee just got hit with a 14-year prison sentence. He was leading a violent drug trafficking gang in D.C. called the Kennedy Street Crew.
Khali Ahmed Brown, who’s just 23, pleaded guilty to some serious charges, including drug conspiracy and weapons possession. The crew he led was notorious for its violent reputation in the area.
Brown gained fame through his rap videos, where he often boasted about his gang lifestyle and even mocked rivals. He admitted to distributing drugs like marijuana and fentanyl and was involved in a shooting near a school.
Prosecutors painted a grim picture of his influence, saying he glorified violence in his music. His videos often targeted rival gang members, including those who had been killed.
During his time with the crew, there were multiple homicides and assaults in their territory. The judge was pretty upset about a shooting that happened near a school, calling it unacceptable.
Brown didn’t just deal drugs on the street; he was also involved in smuggling large amounts of marijuana into the D.C. area. Even after police raids, he continued to flaunt his lifestyle in music videos.
In court, he showed some remorse and talked about trying to turn his life around while in custody. He even earned his high school diploma and a certification in telecommunications.
However, the judge pointed out that this wasn’t his first run-in with the law, having been arrested multiple times as a juvenile. She emphasized that earlier interventions might have changed his path.
His sentence includes time for both drug and weapons charges, plus five years of supervised release afterward. The judge also recommended he get treatment for mental health and substance abuse.
This sentencing is seen as a big win for law enforcement in their fight against drug-related violence in D.C. Officials are hopeful that removing leaders like Brown will help reduce crime in the community.
