A jury convicted Ramone Ramsay of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Kymani Bailey in Silver Spring’s parking garage
Silver Spring: A tragic incident unfolded when Ramone Ramsay shot and killed 21-year-old Kymani Bailey in a parking garage. This happened on July 8, 2023, after Ramsay was kicked out of a nearby nightclub.
Ramsay, who didn’t know Bailey, opened fire on a group that included him. Sadly, Bailey was struck and died at the scene. Fortunately, new surveillance cameras in the garage helped police identify Ramsay as the shooter.
It turns out Ramsay had a criminal past. He was previously serving time for drug and firearm charges but got released early due to the pandemic. Now, he faces deportation after his sentencing.
Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy raised concerns about late-night alcohol service, suggesting it contributes to violence. He emphasized the need for better regulations to prevent such tragedies.
Bailey’s mother, Natasha, spoke about her son’s caring nature, highlighting how he always looked out for others. She expressed the importance of community support during this difficult time.
After the shooting, a good Samaritan rushed to get help. Ramsay was found guilty of first-degree murder and several other charges. He could face life in prison, with sentencing set for April 28.
