Lancaster: People are being asked to share their thoughts on where two new hospitals should go in Lancaster and Preston. These hospitals will replace the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Royal Preston Hospital, thanks to the Government’s New Hospital Programme.

Last month, it was announced that the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have secured land for these new facilities.

To get community input, several public engagement events are being set up. These gatherings will allow patients, NHS staff, local residents, MPs, and other stakeholders to voice their opinions on the proposed sites.

Here’s a quick rundown of the events:
– February 3, 5:30 PM to 7 PM at Lancaster Town Hall
– February 5, 5:45 PM to 7:15 PM at Chorley Football Club
– February 12, 5:30 PM to 7 PM at Morecambe Football Club
– February 14, 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Preston Grasshoppers RUFC
– February 19, 5:30 PM to 7 PM at The Forum, Barrow
– March 3, 5:30 PM to 7 PM at Farington Lodge
– March 8, 2 PM to 3:30 PM at Cotton Court, Preston
– March 14, 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Lancaster University
– March 20, 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal

Besides these events, there will also be a survey available online, by post, and over the phone. Local market research will help gather more opinions too.

A spokesperson mentioned that the feedback collected will guide the next steps for the New Hospital Programme before a formal public consultation takes place. For more details on the events and surveys, check out https://newhospitals.info.
