TEMPLE HILLS: It’s been a tough week for folks in Prince George’s County. After a snowstorm hit, many residents were left wondering when their streets would be cleared. Councilman Edward Burroughs decided he couldn’t just sit back and wait for the county to respond.

He grabbed a shovel and hit the streets himself. Burroughs wanted to make sure that elderly residents could get around safely. He knew it was risky for them to be out trying to clear their own paths.

One resident, Valerie Fitzgerald, was shocked to see him out there. She’s been stuck at home all week and never expected a councilman to show up with a shovel. It’s pretty cool to see someone in office actually getting their hands dirty for the community.

Burroughs didn’t do it alone, though. He had some friends join him, including Kelvin Moore, who brought his own equipment. Together, they tackled several streets, making sure to salt and clear the roads.

Moore emphasized the importance of helping those who can’t do it themselves. It’s all about being ready to lend a hand when needed. Even with the sun shining, the roads were still icy, and safety was a big concern.

Burroughs mentioned he’d likely be back out there the next day, showing that he’s committed to getting the job done. It’s great to see local leaders stepping up in times of need.
