In a recent meeting, Trump voiced support for New York Republicans’ efforts to eliminate congestion pricing and raise the SALT deduction cap

During this meeting at his Mar-a-Lago resort, he also talked about the SALT cap. That’s the limit on how much state and local taxes you can deduct from your federal taxes. Trump’s saying he’s on board to raise that cap, which is currently set at $10,000.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis and Rep. Mike Lawler were there and said Trump really gets how tough it is for New Yorkers. They feel like they’re being treated like cash machines by the city and state leaders. They’re hoping to work out a plan to lift that cap and give folks some relief.
The Republicans are pushing for this change as part of a bigger legislative package that might also bring back some of Trump’s tax cuts from a few years back. This all comes right after the MTA started charging drivers a new toll to enter Manhattan, which has stirred up quite a bit of controversy.
Malliotakis and her crew are feeling optimistic that the Federal Highway Administration could help them out with this congestion pricing issue. Fingers crossed!
