Authorities are on the lookout for a thief who stole thousands from Thrift Lorde$ in Manassas, leaving the owner shocked and the community rallying.
Tobore Edeki, the owner, was stunned when a neighboring business owner called him the next morning. He said, “Yo man, there’s glass everywhere. It looks like someone just came in and out and just took like a bunch of stuff.”
When Edeki arrived, he found shattered glass all over the floor. “There was glass, glass, like, on like the road,” he added. The thief had ransacked the place, grabbing everything from jewelry and clothes to electronics.
Edeki recalled, “He went to the shelves, he like picked up some of the stuff. I had maybe about four or five pairs of shoes that was here,” pointing to the empty space next to the register.
The whole break-in was caught on surveillance cameras, leaving Edeki in disbelief. “I was like yo no way,” he said. His shop has always reflected his unique style, and this theft has left him confused.
Despite the loss, Edeki has felt a wave of support from the community. “I got hundreds of folks saying like, ‘yo man, this is so crazy because I’ve seen you like, you know, started when you were selling clothes at your mom’s,” he shared, appreciating the kindness he’s received.
He also had a hopeful message for anyone facing tough times: “Really to keep their head up. There are a lot more people that are really watching you and want you to do well.”
