Salford: So, there was this incident where police were called to a flat because a guy named Benjamin Connor was reportedly armed with a knife. They showed up and, after some back and forth, they decided to take him to the Cornbrook Metrolink station instead of just locking him up.

Unfortunately, a few hours later, he ended up walking into traffic on the M602 and got hit by a car. It’s really tragic. The inquest is looking into what happened that night, and it’s been revealed that Benjamin had alcohol and cannabis in his system.

His mom, who sadly passed away before the inquest, had written to the court saying the police shouldn’t have just left him there. She was really upset, saying he had no money or phone and was in no state to be alone.

When the police arrived, they found him in a bit of a state but didn’t find any knife. They handcuffed him and took him away, but it seems like they didn’t really think about his mental health or how he’d manage on his own.

It’s a tough situation, and the inquest is still ongoing. More officers are expected to give their side of the story soon. It’s just heartbreaking to think about what happened to him.
