A nurse was stabbed at Royal Oldham Hospital, leaving her in critical condition as police investigate the shocking incident

The nurse, in her 50s, was attacked while working in the A&E department late Saturday night. Officers rushed to the scene around 11:30 PM. Sadly, she’s in critical condition and her injuries are serious, possibly life-changing.
Reports say the attack happened in a bay of the A&E, and the nurse was stabbed with a sharp object that wasn’t a knife. Her colleagues are getting support during this tough time.
A 37-year-old man was quickly arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and is still in custody. It’s not clear if he was a patient at the hospital.
Police have increased their presence around the area to help ease any worries. Detective Sergeant Craig Roters mentioned that this is a serious situation and they’re focused on supporting the victim’s family and colleagues.
The Northern Care Alliance, which oversees the hospital, has been contacted for more information. Everyone is hoping for the best for the nurse and her recovery.
