Crewe: Two commercial buildings are getting a makeover to create 117 new apartments. Packwood Ventures Ltd has asked Cheshire East Council for the green light to remodel Breeden House and Regency Court.

They plan to keep some commercial space on the ground floor while adding 82 one-bedroom and 35 two-bedroom apartments above. The new structures will rise two to five stories high, using a system called TopHuis.

The planning statement mentions that the goal is to make a standout entrance to the town center while keeping existing commercial units. Regency Court, which has been mostly empty, will be redeveloped around a landscaped courtyard.

The developers aim to reuse as much of the current building as possible and add eco-friendly features like rooftop solar panels and green roofs. This should help keep carbon emissions low and provide residents with nice outdoor spaces.

Breeden House will see an upward extension, gradually increasing from two to four stories at the southern corner. Regency Court will have a total of 60 apartments, while Breeden House will have 57.

There will also be 24 parking spots, including spaces for those with mobility needs, and secure bike storage for 154 bikes. Plus, it’s conveniently located near public transport.

If you want to check out the details, the application number is 24/4968, and you can find it on the Cheshire East Council’s planning portal.
