Trafford council has revised plans for 84 homes on the old Sale magistrates’ court site, adding affordable options and energy-efficient features.

The changes are now live on the council’s planning portal. They’ve added more ground-floor living space and even solar panels on both the front and back of the homes. This should help keep energy bills down for future residents by using renewable energy.
Plus, there’s going to be a new public area and some new trees planted around the site. Coun Liz Patel, who’s in charge of economy and regeneration for Trafford, mentioned that this project is a big deal. It aligns with the council’s goal of building more homes on brownfield sites, with a solid 25% of them being affordable.
She also pointed out that the updated plans focus on creating energy-efficient homes, which is super important given the current housing shortage. They’re really pushing to build as many new and affordable homes as possible in the area.
Local developer PIC Homes is on board for this project. They recently wrapped up a phase of The Saplings development in Timperley and are teaming up with experienced contractors from Trafford. A spokesperson from PIC expressed excitement about working with the council to turn this site into much-needed family homes. It’s a nice touch, too, since one of their team members, Armaan, has lived in Sale for 15 years and went to school nearby. It feels good to give back to the community!
