New York: Pete Davidson opened up about his early days on “Saturday Night Live.” He actually wanted to quit after just one year. Can you believe that? He felt like he didn’t fit in with the other cast members.

Davidson even asked Lorne Michaels, the show’s creator, to fire him. He was told it would get better after a few years. At just 20, he was one of the youngest cast members ever and felt out of place.

He recalled feeling like nobody wanted to be his friend. Lorne reassured him that it would take time to adjust. Davidson later admitted that Michaels was right; it was tough for a while.

Despite those early doubts, he stuck around for eight seasons. Since leaving in 2022, he’s been busy with movies, TV roles, and comedy specials. He even returned to host “SNL” for its season 49 premiere in 2023.

Davidson is featured in the new docuseries “SNL50,” which celebrates the show’s 50th anniversary. It includes unseen audition footage and interviews with former cast members. All episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
