Kissimmee: The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mauro Fernando Rodriguez-Ascue on Sunday for trying to murder his estranged wife.

They got a call around 12:25 a.m. from a kid in the house saying, “her father was killing her mother.” When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman with several stab wounds and rushed her to the hospital.

Rodriguez-Ascue had taken off in the victim’s car, but deputies found him walking away from it, covered in blood. He even told them he had stabbed his wife.

The victim needed 27 stitches and had over 10 stab wounds along with a fractured spine. While checking the house, deputies found a knife on the living room floor.

Rodriguez-Ascue had a permanent injunction against him since December 2024 but admitted to seeing his wife after that. He’s now facing charges for attempted murder and violating the domestic injunction and is being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail.

This incident marks the second domestic violence-related stabbing in Osceola County in just two weeks. Earlier, deputies arrested Makinson Devalcin for the fatal stabbing of Enese Pierre on January 5.
