The finale of On Call wraps up Delgado’s murder case while hinting at future challenges for Diaz and Harmon
Long Beach: The ending of *On Call* left us with a lot to think about. It wrapped up the murder of Officer Maria Delgado but hinted at more drama for our favorite cops, Traci Harmon and Alex Diaz.
Throughout the first season, we saw Harmon and Diaz team up to find Delgado’s killer after she was tragically shot during a traffic stop. The whole department felt the loss, especially Harmon, who trained Delgado and felt responsible for her death.
After Delgado’s murder, Harmon was paired with rookie Diaz, who was just starting his training. Even though she could have opted out, Harmon was determined to protect him and ensure he didn’t face the same fate as Delgado.
As the season progressed, we watched them tackle various calls, some linked to Delgado’s case. They put their lives on the line to keep Long Beach safe, which is pretty standard for a cop show, but it felt real and intense.
Harmon worked hard to teach Diaz the ropes, wanting him to be the kind of cop who could make a difference. She was the calm one, while Diaz was more impulsive, often rushing into danger. This mix created a lot of tension and excitement throughout the season.
So, did they catch Delgado’s killer? Did Harmon finally get that promotion she’s been dreaming of? And what about Diaz—did he earn his badge? These were the big questions we had since the first episode.
In the finale, they finally tracked down Delgado’s killer, a gang member known as Maniac. The episode focused on catching Smokey, who had been a key informant in the case. Smokey’s betrayal put his family in danger, leading to a tense showdown.
Harmon and her team set up a sting operation to catch Smokey, but things took a turn when they discovered he sent his daughter to pick up drugs instead. This twist added a layer of complexity, especially since Diaz had previously helped her.
During a chaotic shootout, Diaz was shot but thankfully survived. Harmon confronted Smokey, letting him know that his daughter was dead and that he would face justice.
At the hospital, Harmon was relieved to see Diaz alive, but their moment of joy was cut short when she learned her promotion was denied. She suspected it was due to interference from Sergeant Lasman, but it turned out to be Lieutenant Bishop instead.
In a surprising twist, during Diaz’s parole board hearing, Harmon recommended he stay in training, which shocked him. She believed he still had a lot to learn, despite his heartfelt speech about how she had helped him grow.
Ultimately, Harmon confronted Bishop about the promotion denial, realizing that her own actions had consequences. The season ended with Harmon and Diaz back on patrol, ready for whatever comes next.
While *On Call* hasn’t been renewed yet, it’s currently a hit on Prime Video, so we’re hopeful for more adventures with these characters. You can catch all of Season 1 streaming now!
