A policewoman died after being hit by a lorry while helping at a crash scene in North Yorkshire, leaving her family and community heartbroken.
Rosie was one of two fatalities; the other was Ryan Welford, 41, who was involved in the initial collision. A teenage boy, a passenger in Ryan’s car, was also hit and is currently in serious but stable condition at the hospital.
The driver of the lorry, a 65-year-old man from Berwick-upon-Tweed, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has been released under investigation.
Rosie’s family described her as a loving mother and wife who will be deeply missed. Chief Constable Tim Forber praised her dedication, noting that she stopped to help even while off duty.
Local officials expressed their devastation over the incident, highlighting Rosie’s commitment to serving the public. Ryan’s family also shared their grief, remembering him as a hardworking and loving individual.
The scene was cleared later that day, and police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
