California Governor Gavin Newsom highlights the potential devastation of LA wildfires, emphasizing the need for immediate and long-term support.

Los Angeles: California Governor Gavin Newsom recently shared his concerns about the wildfires in LA County. He believes these fires could be the worst natural disaster in U.S. history, especially regarding costs and scale.
In a chat with NBC’s Jacob Soboroff, Newsom mentioned that the death toll is currently around 13, but that number could rise. Search-and-rescue teams are actively working, and cadaver dogs are on the scene.
To help with recovery, Newsom announced an executive order to ease some environmental regulations. He also called for an independent investigation into water supply issues, particularly a reservoir that wasn’t full when it was needed.
Newsom stressed the importance of planning for the future while addressing immediate safety concerns. He’s focused on disaster assistance and ensuring that people can apply for help without facing fraud.
He’s also eager to find out what went wrong, stating he wants to know “what the hell happened.” Newsom reassured that this investigation isn’t about shifting blame but about getting to the facts.
In response to President-elect Donald Trump’s criticisms, Newsom invited him to visit California. He expressed a desire for open communication and collaboration, contrasting it with the support he’s received from President Joe Biden.
During a separate interview, Vice-President-elect JD Vance mentioned that Trump would be interested in visiting California but still criticized Newsom’s policies. Newsom responded by saying that engaging with Trump’s insults would be a waste of time.
